A definition for portrait is the likeness of a person, or a description of someone's character. For Gallery 263's Portrait Show we leave it to you to interpret this traditional genre. We love people, and believe there are a multitude of ways to represent a person. Now's your chance to show us yours.
2D (painting, drawing, photography, etc.): Dimensions no greater than 48" x 48" including frame (if framed). No media restrictions (40 lbs. max). MUST be ready to hang (framed, wired, etc.).
3D (sculpture, assemblage): MUST be self-supportive or mountable; maximum of 108" height, maximum width / depth of 30".
Time Media : No length restrictions. To submit, mail five minutes or less of video OR audio piece on a DVD/flashdrive to Gallery 263 or arrange to send submission electronically. See address instructions below.
This is a national call. Residents of the United States are eligible.
How to apply
Submission deadline is April 30, 2012 by 5PM. Artists may submit up to 3 jpegs (1 additional view per entry allowed for 3D work). No more than one piece will be included per artist. Image submissions MUST be in jpeg format, high quality, approximately 1 MB large.
Submission includes a $25 fee (non-refundable, includes up to three entries).

To submit by mail, send a check payable to Gallery 263, 263 Pearl Street, Cambridge, MA 02139.
Or drop off cash or check at the gallery. Please enclose payment in a sealed envelope labeled "Portrait Show". Include a note with your contact information.

Format for image files: Lastname_Firstname_1, Lastname_Firstname_2, etc.
All entries and submission fees MUST be received by 5PM April 30, 2012. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by May 7. NO PHONE CALLS, EMAILS ONLY. For questions email firstname.lastname@example.org. All work is For Sale By Artist. Gallery 263 will provide introduction to interested parties.
Gallery 263 is a nonprofit art gallery. Our mission is to provide a place for local and regional artists of all mediums to exhibit their work and engage the larger community.
Gallery 263 reserves the right to withdraw acceptance if quality does not reflect images or if the artist violates requirements.
