Chasing Light Prospectus

Light itself can serve as both a subject and material of art, illuminating possibilities for psychological or symbolic impact when contrasted with shadow. Gallery 263 invites New England-based artists to submit to Chasing Light, an online exhibition that highlights the importance and impact of the role of light in visual art. This show is juried by Leah Triplett Harrington, curator for Now + There and editor-at-large of Boston Art Review.

About the Juror: Leah Triplett Harrington

Leah Triplett Harrington is a curator, writer, and editor. As curator for Now + There, she facilitates the Public Art Accelerator and also organizes large-scale public art commissions, most recently Ambrosia by Cicely Carew, The Shape of Play by Sari Carel, and ¡Provecho! by Justin Favela. She is also a founding editor of the publication and platform The Rib and editor-at-large of Boston Art Review. Her writing has most recently appeared in there as well as Flash Art, Hyperallergic, WBUR’s The Artery, Big Red & Shiny, and The Brooklyn Rail.

Important Information

Eligibility

This is a regional call, open to residents of the New England, or those who have lived in New England within the last five years. Submitted work must have been created within the last five years.

Submission

Online submissions only. Artists may submit up to 3 works.

2D and 3D work should be photographed and formatted to 72dpi, 1300 pixels on the longest edge.

Time-based media should be submitted using a hyperlink to Vimeo or YouTube.

Work in all media is encouraged.

Gallery 263 does not require a percentage of sales, but a 30% suggested donation is encouraged to help support gallery operating costs.

Deadline for Submission

Submissions must be received by Thursday, July, 1 2021 at 11:59 PM. No late submissions will be accepted.
